The Pursuit [A Fantasy Poem Written By Me]

SUMMARY: This poem in set in a fantasy world. It is about a person chasing some creatures which have taken his son. These creatures are called “Scounds”.

**************************

Deep within the ground, live those filthy scounds

The creatures that I seek, of rotten skin, they reek.

**************************

Their eyes, sparkling blue, their saliva, sticky like glue

Their teeth like metal nails, like war maces, their tails.

***************************

Their voice like hissing of snakes, hair pellucid, body opaque.

Bioluminescent, their horns, their nails sharp like thorns.

***************************

The pursuit dark creature

***************************

In this darkness, they dwell, their fetid presence, I smell

I pursue those wild beasts, they are expecting a feast.

**************************

Last night, they were outside, following their leader & guide

In our village, they did roam and then came across my home.

**************************

They saw my young son, my lovely child, just one.

He was sleeping on floor, they entered through the door.

**************************

I was taking a walk around, when I heard the weird sounds

Ran to the window, horrified and then I peeked inside.

**************************

Everything was crystal clear, those scounds and my dear

Were a mere two feet apart, my blood froze in my heart

***************************

One scound licked his skin, another hit him in his chin.

At his hands, one did gnaw and took them in its jaws.

*************************

I stood burning with wrath, unable to catch my breath.

Picked up the fallen broom and then entered the room

*************************

But, I was too late and slow, they jumped out of window.

They took my child from me, I grabbed my sword quickly.

*************************

Follow their trail, I did, to this place where they hid

I know they went inside and in this dark, they hide.

*************************

They took him in this cave but my son, oh he is brave.

I think he hit one hard and it was caught off guard.

**************************

A tooth fell from its mouth on way that leads to south.

few drops of its blue blood, I see, fallen upon the mud.

**************************

The prints of their long nails, have left a clear, long trail.

Footprints , clear and fresh, I can see in this filthy mess.

**************************

It means I’m on right way unless I’ve been led astray

I’ll go and slaughter them all, this is the day of their fall.

***************************

In this pitch black dark abyss, I hear faint whispers and hiss.

I think I am really close and now my blood-thirst grows.

**************************

I’ll free and save my child, from scounds, dark and wild.

My destiny will be fulfilled, when I kill them or be killed.

**************************

P.S – I wrote this one in a week. I will be posting more poems as soon as I am done with them. English is not my first language so there might be grammatical mistakes. I would love to hear your views and criticism.
